Easy Like Sunday Morning

Sunday mornings...........Boring yet so beautiful, A day full of coffee (Till your sick) The newspaper crossword, Playing board games or just lounging on the sofa with a book or watching Sunday T.V.
I am currently in the house with just the pooch for company, My partner and son are out doing some shopping for Dinner.
It isn't very often my partner and myself are off together and him having a Sunday off is most unusual.
Lets face it, Sundays were designed for laziness, (although my Son was up at the crack of dawn), Running round the house with the dog like a pair of loons, The dog and my son are like best mates, I have even caught my boy reading a book to the dog in his bedroom, Both of them lied on the bed quite content while Ethan reads "Guess How Much I Love You In The Winter" to the hound.
My son loves these books and their are four of them. All the same title but ending with the seasons, I.E Guess How Much I Love You In The Summer and so forth. Great read for kids and easy to read to your pets too :) But seriously, These Little Nut Brown Hare books are lovely. Perfect little bedtime stories, My lad has had them since he was two years old, And being cardboard books they are hard wearing, Though my son knows very well to treat books well. He has never ripped or damaged books in any way at all. He has the same outlook on them as his Dad and myself do. Books are lovely and should be kept lovely.
These books are an expensive £4.99 EACH or £15.93 for the set, BUT may I add they are well worth the price.

Damn All Housework

This was what I wanted to do today.........(The one above) The one below was what I got......

Weep for me please because my tears have run dry lol,
It wouldn't be so bad but I had to tackle the worst hated room in the house. My evil kitchen. Its the size of a shoe box and its possessed by an evil demon called "Mess" I hate it in there. Constantly looks cluttered because its so small, We have things stacked on top of other things, (not plates) I mean bread on top of dried pasta and so on and so forth.
If I could get an Exorcist in for such a thing then I would. Father Merron still around?????
Anyway no reading for me, So have sulked all day while my kitchen laughed at me. Yeah, I blew it up. :)

Quitting anti-socialism

Day 14 of not smoking, And boy am I proud of myself, Thing is I feel tetchy and like I want to do something. So yeah I chose running, Cos I actually feel like I could, What I wanted was a bike but the pennies wont stretch so far until after Father Christmas has bled me dry, (I hate that big red dude) I spend all the money and he gets all the credit, Hardly fair is it?
Any way, I have seen people running and always thought they never look happy.......They look sweaty and out of breath and unhappy, But I need to shed some of the "I have quit smoking so gonna fill my fat face with anything containing more than 1000 calories over the space of 24 hours because I am bored and have nothing to do with my hands" weight. Not to mention that fact that restless leg syndrome has become really bad since I quit, Something to do with circulation no doubt, But its bleeding annoying. Maybe if I run my little legs off they will be too tired for the twitching at night.
Then in the new year I can get a bike and cycle them off, At least cyclists look vaguely pleased with themselves.
I actually cant wait to traumatise people with my swinging jogging flesh. Should be interesting hahaha.

Five People. No Seriously, Just Five

This book at first sight come across as a documentary. Does that make sense? lol. No, But seriously, It looks all........Well I can explain it.
I mean its not really eye catching is it? C'mon....Look at it......Its.............Boring? Hardly screams "read me" Does it?
 But whats inside? Amazing.
In actual fact, The way its written it should perhaps be called Five People You Meet On The Way To Heaven. But I guess that's not practical. The five people are either people you knew in life or people you never actually met but may have had some sort of butterfly effect on their life.
Makes you think about what really happens when you die.....Why five people? Why so many? Or so few if you prefer.....Is there something special in the number??? Why not a nice even number like six? Or four?
I got to thinking about that and then thought I would end up as a Five People You Meet In Hell ha ha. The five people you pissed off in life...........Would love to know who they would be.
This book is not big, I read it in a day and a half, But its really profound. You ever get a chance, Then please read it. I was really impressed but then the written word just impresses me no end. I have read terrible books in my time but Hell I didn't put them down till the very end, Then when I got to the end I calmly put it down and then mutter to myself for several hours about its total crapness.
Anyway. Read this. I demand it :)

And Blah!

You know when you have one of those days when your REALLY don't know what to do? You could go shopping, but you either skint or its persisting it down....(Both in my case today lol) Or you could stay in where its warm and dry and read a good book, Now there is an idea :),
See the thing is, I have here a brand new book, all shiny and new, The spine isn't even cracked. Not telling you what it is yet cos then it spoils it. But anyhow, Every time I have sat today to read this book something has happened, You know like being in the shower and someone phones, Sods law isn't it? So either there is someone at the door trying to sell you something you will never use, like a dog scourer or something or they want to sell you new windows at a knock down price you still cant afford. So you eventually get some peace, you lie on the bed and crack open your shiny new book and read the first paragraph or the preface or the introduction, THEN you fall asleep :(.
There are SO many books out there for me to read and I wont live long enough to read all the ones I wish to read. There are books out there I will never get my hands on, Books that I have always wanted to read and could quite well do without sleeping through it all thank you very much. This book I have here is one such book. Wanted it since I heard about it. NEEDED it lol. And I fell asleep. Typical. So when I wake up its time to go and get my boy from school and you know full well that you ain't gonna be reading till at least nine o clock at night.
Its like fate isn't it? The phone rings when your in the shower, You get an itchy nose when your hands are full of flour, Something you lost is always in the last place you look and that somewhere safe is so safe you cant even find it yourself lol.
So now I am going to settle down and read my new book in relative peace and quiet :)

       Goodnight    <3

One Day

Seriously excellent book, Funny, touching and bloody irritating all at the same time.
Emma and Dexter are in their early 20's and fresh out of University And both with pretty decent degree's, Emma is a Northerner with not a lot of money and Dexter is a rich kids from Oxfordshire, Yeah, Also Dexter is a twat, Completely obnoxious and oblivious to everyone but himself and where his next shag is coming from, Not to forget his biggest worry, What is the most fashionable drug at the time. So sex and drugs are his high life while Emma  slaves away in a Mexican restaurant. Also, Emma is in love with Dex, but his ignorant arse cant see that.
So while Dex shags everything with a pulse, Emma sticks around and they become the best of friends.
This goes on in the same way for 20 years............................20 bloody years lol, Dex bonking everything that consents and Emma secretly wishing he would settle down with her forever.
This book is amazing, Simply unputdownable lol. And when I did put it down I was thinking bout Emma and Dex.
I saw this book reviewed on some God awful day time T.V show. A morning one that was on simply because I could not be arsed turning off the Telly and put the radio on, From the word go, the way the presenter was driveling on and on about this story that I was determined NEVER to read it, They were talking about it because it had just been made into a film, That made my resolve never to read it even stronger, But then the darn thing was all over the place, People reading it on the bus, It peered out at me from Book Shop windows, With its bright orange jacket, Like it was grinning at me saying " you know you will, Cos you just have to see what all the fuss is about". Bloody thing, Needless to say, I bought the sodding thing and could not put the beastie down. Anyway I was very disappointed in myself for just fobbing off a book just cos it was shown on daytime T.V.
So let this be a lesson to you all and...........(Ew I cant believe I am going to say this) Don't judge a book by who bloody advertises it hahahahahaha. I was pleasantly surprised

Been away???

So yeah, Hi, How are you all?
Well lets see, I kinda got side tracked and ended up being away from this for longer than I actually thought I had ha ha, How about that. But lets see now, At least I have read some books eh? Wanna hear read about them? Course you bloody do. But its gonna have to wait. Because I have this over whelming urge to tell you why I haven't been here for centuries. Well, See, Nah I'm not saying, Urge has left me he he. But just been busy with things, My son and work. Also trying to do something with my life other than vegetate on Face book playing mind numbing games and stuff.
But I intend to start putting a little more effort into this cos I really didn't start this just to get bored and wander off. So we will see. I look forward to getting some more followers and yakking on about rubbish books that I suffered through, and great books that I didn't want to put down, even when I reached the last page
So should be fun.

Spooks Apprentice

Well its been a while since I last Blogged. But in all fairness I haven't read anything quite worth while. In fact what I have read have been BIG disappointments. But we cant win them all can we?
Anyway. The spooks Apprentice is the first of 5 books and up to now I am on the fourth. I bout The Spooks Battle while we were shopping in a gift shop when we were camping one weekend. And as I am not very observant I failed to notice that I had purchased the fourth book in the series. So as I had some money to spare and had taken my trusty Kindle camping with us I bought the others from Amazon.
Want some Blurb. Take some......Please its on me:-
A terrifying series about a young boy training to be an exorcist. Thomas Ward is the seventh son of a seventh son and has been apprenticed to the local Spook. The job is hard, the Spook is distant and many apprentices have failed before Thomas. Somehow Thomas must learn how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches and bind boggarts. But when he is tricked into freeing Mother Malkin, the most evil witch in the County, the horror begins . . .
Well these books have me quite under their spell and although I haven't held a real book in my hands for a fair few months I am just about to start the one I bought when we were away. They are dark in quite a childish way. Think Harry Potter but with a better script. (I am a Harry Potter hater by the way)
There is a lot of variety in these books too. Its not just all Witches and Wizards.
Around £5.00 each from Amazon on Kindle and for paperback its roughly the same so its a win win.

Enjoy :)

By God This Was Hide Under Covers Scary

Fabby fabby fabby. Although I couldn't read it till late at night as it gave me the willies. The killer dude in this is WAYYYYYYYYYYY scary. (Shudders) Ending was kinda O.K too.
Blurb????? Come get some:-

Billy Lucas confesses to a shocking crime. He's only fourteen years old but he's a sadistic killer and proud of it. He's in the secure wing of the state hospital but … he seems too wise for his age, not crazy, too knowing. About the nature of evil, and whether it lives on beyond death. Too knowing about other crimes that took place before he was born …
Other murders from twenty years ago surface in the mind of Detective John Calvino as he interviews young Billy Lucas. Calvino carries away a signed confession … and a sense of great danger. That night he feels that somehow Billy has come home with him, to his family.
Over the next weeks, this haunted feeling does not go away. It only gets worse. Then another killing spree happens, just as and when John Calvino dreaded it would. Billy is safely locked away, but not the ghost, if the ghost exists, that links these murders with past crimes, and with John Calvino.
Anything could happen, and surely will … again.

Proper had me on the edge of my seat or rather hanging outta my sodding bed nearly weeing myself cos I was too scared to go to the loo. And when I did go potty I ran around switching lights on and then ran around turning them off again and diving from the bedroom door to the bed in case something ate my feet.
This is a more expensive book at £9.99 for the Kindle, £10.41 for hardback or for the cheaper paperback its a nice £4.79. Seriously worth it which ever you buy.  Enjoy :)

Troubled wasnt the word

Pretty decent read to be fair. Was really into this book. Its dark and, Well, Troubled lol. Have some blurbWhen twelve-year-old Freeman Mills arrives at Wendover, a group home for troubled children, it’s a chance for a fresh start. But second chances aren’t easy for Freeman, the victim of painful childhood experiments that gave him the ability to read other people’s minds.

Little does Freeman know that his transfer was made at the request of Dr. Richard Kracowski, whose research into the brain’s electrical properties is revealing new powers of the human mind. Kracowski is working for a secret society called the Trust, but also has his own agenda in exploring the nature of the soul. His experiments have an unexpected side effect, though. The electromagnetic fields used in his experiments are summoning the ghosts of the patients who died at Wendover back when it was a psychiatric ward.

Freeman simply wants to survive, take his medicine for manic depression, and deceive his counselors into believing he is happy. When he meets the anorexic Vicky, who may also be telepathic, he’s afraid some of his darkest secrets will be uncovered. But when the other children develop their own clairvoyant abilities, and insane spirits begin haunting the halls of Wendover, he can’t safely hide inside his own head anymore.

Meanwhile, the Trust is installing sophisticated equipment in the home’s basement, aggressively probing the threshold between life and death. And they’ve brought in another scientist who doesn’t share Dr. Kracowski’s reluctance to push the limits.

This scientist is a pioneer in ESP induction, and he performed most of his work on a very special subject: his son, Freeman Mills.
Well as I said this is an interesting book. Really touches your heart and you want to reach out and help these kids yourself. Bit silly in places and drawn out where it doesn't need to be but hey I guess the author has to fill pages eh lol.
Kindle price is a bargain 0.70p woo hoo. Buy it if only for cheap reading material.

 Enjoy :)

Coombs Wood

I was really quite impressed with this book. UNTIL I realised it was a tiny little rip off of Stephen Kings "Rose Madder. And I love Rose Madder. So I was compelled to carry on reading. However there were times when the story made me want to throw the most expensive thing I own against the wall. There is a woman and her son running away from a violent man. There is nothing given away about the violence until almost the end of the book. So they move to a remote little village run by Elves. (Sigh) Where they are told by all the villagers NOT to go into the woods. So obviously the silly cow does just that. Well in the woods lives Bodu, A nasty ferocious dog/bear/simple man eats people for fun. Have some Blurb:-Izzy Santana and her 13-year-old son Connor move into a Reading Council-provided flat in the sleepy village of Cedham. Locals darkly warn her to stay away from nearby Coombe’s Wood, hinting first at elves, then at multiple murders… which may or may not have taken place in the woods hundreds of years ago. It’s all ludicrously superstitious, and Izzy is so delighted to have found a haven for her son – after being threatened by her sadistic ex-partner George – that she takes little notice.

She meets a neighbour who seems kindly, if a trifle fey, and who takes a great interest in her son. Connor seems instantly comfortable with him. She begins to feel as if she is also falling under his spell. But Connor is bullied at school, and one night she finds herself tracking those bullies in the wood, where she believes they are waiting for him. She doesn’t find them, but something closes in on her – something that sounds like a savage animal. As she runs she realises she may have been set up – or Connor was – to be caught by whatever the animal was. She strengthens the barricades in her flat, no longer puts all the local tales about ‘danger in them woods’ down to superstition, and even begins to wonder about the way she was selected by the Reading Council officer to live in the village in the first place.

Then a slit rabbit turns up on her doorstep, along with a distinctive cigarette butt, and she knows George has found her. Desperately compassionate, her neighbour calls the police, who turn up next day, harumph the ceiling, and take the attitude: You’ve not been attacked, then, Miss? You haven’t actually seen him? Why, if your ex-lover has tracked you down, do you suppose he would he dump a rabbit at your door…? Her own question, more urgent, is: if George can get in the front door of the building, can he get into her flat?

What Izzy needs to do is protect Connor. She has already started to uncover the ancient secrets of the village, and now she works out the perfect way to get rid of George… for good.
Yawn.......But as I read it I thought I would kindly bore all of you with it.
Its not all bad though as there is a little romance and Elf visits that no one seems to remember when its over. But seriously that is all the fun of the book. It didn't drag me into their world which is a must for me. I like to be able to see what people do in stories and smell what they smell. And this just didn't do it for me. But it might do it for you, You just never know do ya.
 Kindle price is 70p.

Enjoy :)

Blood and Weddings :)

Absolutely fan-bloody-tastic. I was gutted when I finished these books, BUT, it looks like there may be more in the making (fingers crossed) Had me hooked from the first to the last. Amazingly written and it is like you just fall into Brands world. Have some blurb. Go on you know you wanna:-
The Red Jewel is rediscovered and wielded in this, Book #5 of the series. Blood Magic reigns supreme, but who will attune the Red Jewel first? The elder races gather, unhappy with the upstart humans and their possession of powerful Jewels. Brand leads an army of the River Folk and the Wee Folk to the Black Mountains to answer the request of the Kindred for aid. There, atop Snowdon, a fantastic battle rages. The Great Gates of Snowdon are stormed in a new war that will not soon be forgotten.
Ooooooooo Niiiiiiccceee, And it was a bloody great battle as well. The end left a lot to be desired but this is what makes me think there may be more. And there were TWO count them TWO weddings, Girls love weddings. Even more than we love violence hahahahaha I'm joking of course haha. Or am I?
But on a serious note, Simply divine story and I really do hope there will be more. Really didn't want the book to end and really took my time over it. Made me want to jump in the book and bash some bad guys myself haha, But its actually hard to tell who the bad guys are sometimes, But I am guessing that this is done on purpose. Keeps you guessing anyway.
If anyone hears of more of these books coming out then PLEASE let me know.

Enjoy :)

Book Number Two :)

It just got better, There are Goblins and frog people and dogs that wont get off horses and all these jewels that people want. Brand is now "The Wielder of Ambros". Well let me tell you that Ambros is an axe with a difference, Its alive. The wizard in this story sounds a little like Gandalf only better, He wields "Vaul", The green jewel in control of everything green and believe me that jewel would do well in my garden, I kill everything green.
Then there is "Lavatis" the Blue jewel, This makes The Rainbow, Rainbows are pretty you think? Not this one, Its a giant Rainbow with legs and arms and a head and it goes round bashing bad people., And then theres "Osang" The Lavender jewel  that makes you sneaky, It prevents sound and sight. The others haven't been explained yet,
 Have some Blurb, On me.
the Pact that has kept the peace for centuries between humanity and the Faerie is broken. Oberon, King of the Faerie, lost his Sky Jewel and can no longer command the marching Rainbow to keep the peace. Once again the darkest and most evil of his kind plague human lands. In defense of the Haven, a champion must be chosen to wield the Axe Ambros. A magical weapon powered by the legendary Amber Jewel, the eye of a long dead golden dragon, the Axe is difficult to master.
Bit of a sorry Blurb innit.
Trust me when I say you gotta read these books, I have just started the third one and its got me hooked already :)

Enjoy :)

B. V. Larson Is Now The Best

Well now. What can I say. Fab fab fab.
Amber Magic is the fist book in five lovely smashing beatifully written books. This is quite a short book but I was quite taken with it, Enough so that I purchased the other four as well :)
Now, It smacks slightly of The Lord of the Rings, BUT, they are my favorite books of all time aside from Narnia.
It even has Shade in Amber Magic, Now then, You will want a bit of bumf so here ya go:-
The humans have no magic and are hunted for sport, but that is about to change. War is coming...

The Sun Dragon spawned nine lesser dragons which devoured their parent for the power the elder possessed. These young dragons fought for choice bits of the Sun Dragon, but each only managed to eat a portion, thus giving them specific powers. Over time, these foul dragons were hunted down and slain by heroes of old. When each body rotted away, nothing was left save for a Jewel—the lens of each dragon’s left eye. These Nine Eyes, or Jewels, form the basis for all magic in the world.
Ooooo yummy. The dragon Stone books (not that I have read them all yet) sound just divine. And the first one was just that, I couldnt put it down. Here is my little take on things so far.
Now then, There was a pact between the Fearie and the River Folk (Or humans if you prefer) and the deal was that the River Folk gives one in seven of all their yearly harvest to the greedy Fearie people, (This is the Offering) And in return the Fearie wont play tricks, Now by tricks I mean really mean ones, Such as putting Changelings in place of new born babes so they can have an easy life of free food and warm baths and such for the rest of their lives, Its not mentioned where the new borns are sent but there is a mention of them being hidden away forever with no one to care for them.
Anywho the pact is now broken (oops) and the Fearie lord has been overthrown because the rest of the Fearie quite like their tricks (obviously) another part of the deal was that the Fearie would keep out the other nasties from the River Folks dwellings. Well thats stopped hasnt it? Now there is this young River boy called Brand and he has been dragged into this head first and the poor mite hasnt got the foggiest about what is going on and has to fight all these little nasties, (just like poor Frodo Baggins eh) But who cares I mean the story is fabulous, And I had a really hard time putting my Kindle down, But seriously you HAVE to get this book, It should be law that you get this book.
I dont know if the others will be as short as this one but the first ones usually are quite short, Im assuming that the others will be longer, Its hard to judge on a Kindle to be honest cos there isnt really page numbers, Its just a percent of what you have already read.
 Anyway, Prices are :-
 Kindle £0.71
There are no other prices available for paperback or hardback so I am not sure if you can buy this on anything but the Kindle. Sorry. Have a look round and let me know.

Enjoy :)

It Got Good

This is the first book I read when I bought my lovely Kindle way back in Feb,
Its called "Room" by Emma Donoghue. A friend of mine told me about this book and I remember my partner telling me he had looked at it in WaterStones, At first I thought it sounded like one of those true story thingies that I hate so much. I was wrong. So here is a little blurb about it:-
It's Jack's birthday, and he's excited about turning five. Jack lives with his Ma in Room, which has a locked door and a skylight, and measures 11 feet by 11 feet. He loves watching TV, and the cartoon characters he calls friends, but he knows that nothing he sees on screen is truly real - only him, Ma and the things in Room. Until the day Ma admits that there's a world outside . . . Told in Jack's voice, Room is the story of a mother and son whose love lets them survive the impossible.
The story was really quite touching in some places and the little lad sounds lush, A typical five year old boy, But not quite, Can you imagine being shut away from the world not even knowing that it exists? I cant, But this book gives you an idea what it could be like......
Quite a heart rending story and I really recommend you try it.
Kindle price is £2.79. Paperback is £3.99. Hardback is £7.19. Please remember that I give the prices from Amazons list only. You can check out WaterStones or Orricks but I doubt you will find the books I review cheaper anywhere else.

Enjoy :)

Bad Endings

If there is anything in this world that annoys me and makes me want to beat something to a nasty little pulp, Its got to be people who pick their feet and bad endings in a book/film.
I mean come ON people. You take all that time and effort to write a really good book then get bored at the end and think "well the reader wont know what happened but Hell I cant be arsed with this book anymore and my dead line is gaining fast" PFFT. You take a fantastic writer, Take one, Any will do, You have a fantastic story line, Terrific hero, Fabulous monsters, you go the the entire story keeping the reader completley enthralled to the very very end, And on the last page what do they do? They have the hero throw a sodding pig or something equally as pathetic at the monster and it vanishes into thin air never to be seen again and some silly girl falls at his feet promising him 67 kids and a house with a white picket fence and a golden lab. Yeah??? NOOOOO!!! Its irritating people, Not to mention the fact that because the ending is terrible you cant stop bloody thinking about it for weeks.
Well, I have just finished a book like that. The hero didnt throw a pig at the monster but he may as well have in my humble opinion. I am not saying that I could write a book any better but please, It cant be that hard to think of a good ending after writing the whole thing in the first place.
Rant over and I am not telling you which book it is either. Cos you will be expecting a bad ending and flicking through to the last page just to find out.
 Arnt I wicked :) hehe

The Red Church............And Other stuff

Well Spring is almost here and what have I been doing? Spring Cleaning. Pfft, I did my little boys room yesterday and Oh My God it was horrific, 5 bin liners later full of broken toys old baby toys, jigsaws with pieces missing, Games that no longer work, Old clothes that no longer fit all went to the tip. His room is now sparkly clean, I have just washed all the windows and even the front door got a taste of my Spring Cleaning Wrath. The washing is in the washer and the dogs hiding from all the water, (He will be found).
Anyways, The Red Church by Scott Nicholson. Im maybe one third of the way through this book and its goin good so far, The basic blurb on the back is :
For 13-year-old Ronnie Day, life is full of problems: Mom and Dad have separated, his brother Tim is a constant pest, Melanie Ward either loves him or hates him, and Jesus Christ won't stay in his heart. Plus he has to walk past the red church every day, where the Bell Monster hides with its wings and claws and livers for eyes. But the biggest problem is that Archer McFall is the new preacher at the church, and Mom wants Ronnie to attend midnight services with her.

Sheriff Frank Littlefield hates the red church for a different reason. His little brother died in a freak accident at the church twenty years ago, and now Frank is starting to see his brother's ghost. And the ghost keeps demanding, "Free me." People are dying in Whispering Pines, and the murders coincide with McFall's return.

The Days, the Littlefields, and the McFalls are descendants of the original families that settled the rural Appalachian community. Those old families share a secret of betrayal and guilt, and McFall wants his congregation to prove its faith. Because he believes he is the Second Son of God, and that the cleansing of sin must be done in blood.
Well I can tell you that from what I have read so far its not just the McFall family that are the Village oddities, The whole bloody Village is as mad as a sack full of owls. Bloody barmy the lot of them, With the exception of Detective Sheila Storie. She seems to have a tight grip on reality, (For now). Lets see how long that lasts. And you can just tell that poor little Ronnie Day or his little brother Tim Day are gonna get sacrificed at some point, Or someone is gonna try damned hard, Im not giving anything away by the way as I havnt even got that far myself yet.
This seems to only be available on the Kindle but Im sure you can find it in paperback somewhere in the world. £2.15 for Kindle edition

Enjoy :)

Its Catching

Well, Over the weekend my little boy had a bug. The 24 hour kind that makes you sick as a dog, Or the other which is just as nasty, Anywho I caught it and was sick as a pig all day yesterday, So no reading or anything for me :(.
But I have been reading a fabulous book called "48" by James Herbert, Here is the blurb from the back. In 1945, Hitler unleashes the Blood Death on Britain as his final act of vengeance. Hoke, an American pilot and one of a tiny minority with a rare blood group unaffected by the deadly disease, has survived alone among the debris and the dead of London for three years. Now, in 1948, a slow-dying group of Fascist Blackshirts believe their only hope is a transfusion of blood from one of Hoke’s kind. Ever more desperate as their deaths approach, they’re after his blood. Oh thrilling. And up to now, its gripping. Now Im not really one for books ar films about the war but it seems that the war is over in this one from what I have read so far, BUT, The animosity between English Yanks and Germans is still there, At least it is where Hoke is concerned. The only blood group that is immune is AB negative, And the people after him think (Heavens knows why) that by taking these few people and draining their blood for a quick blood transfusion will cure them. PAH. Everyone knows (dont they?) that you need to be the same group to have a transfusion. But hey this fella that wants their blood (literally) obviously never took biology in school. (lets hope he catches on fast eh). And it seems that animals are immune too as Hoke has a lil doggy called Cagney. Aww.
For Kindle this is £3.99. For hard cover its £11.99 and paperback is £4.45.
If you like this sort of thing, Which seems to me to be a cross between the aftermath of war and a Zombie wotsit, Then please get it as I am hooked and its not even my kinda book. Hows that for ya? :)
  Definatly a must read.

 Enjoy :)

The Colorado Kid. By Stephen King

Nom at this book. Stephen King is one of my personal faves. I love the man. I like the way he writes, Though some of his endings leave a lot to be desiredm Such as the ending of Black House. Fab book but left me wanting at the end.
Now The Colorado Kid? Where do I start?
It is a selection of short stories, The leading one being The Colorado Kid itself. Set in Maine as is the norm, A young journalist named Stephanie asks her mentors and employers if anything strange and unexplainable has ever happened, Well if you ask me, Asking that question in one of Stephen King's books is just plain silly, Like the answer is going to be "NO" hahahaha.
Anyway. Stephies employers begin the story of the Colorado kid. Without giving away the story, Its enthralling. A must read and not just for that story, If I remember rightly there are around four or five short stories in this book.
Now this will cost you £2.87 on your Kindle, For mass market paperback (used) £1.97. And for hard back (take a deep breath now.........£22.00. STEEP. But worth it. I tend to go to tiny little dusty book stores if I can find one, If not I put up with the bustle in Waterstones. The prices listed on here are Amazon prices. You may be able to find it cheaper somewhere else, But I am here to review books for fun and for other peoples pleasure. I aint doin your leg work :)

 Enjoy :)

Books

http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/17486 This book is fast paced and full of adventure. Its funny in places which really lightens the mood of story. Its free if you buy the edition for the Kindle. I have a Kindle and personally think everyone should own one. BUT and its a big but, It will never replace books. Even though I have one there is still nothing better than opening a brand new book.
As I say if you have a Kindle this book is free. (Bonus). If not the paperback is available for £11.37p. Big difference eh haha.
It follows the story of a girl named Faela, A Tereskan mind healer, The first of her kind in generations, Who fled her home pregnant and terrified, Outcast by her order she seeks for a legend that might be her only chance to make things right.
A fantastic read for anyone. I have just finished reading this one myself and keep trying to find out when the second book is released. With no luck, But there is going to be one. There has to be haha.

Enjoy

Greetings and salutaions

Good day to you all.
First I would like to tell you what this blog is about. Mainly Books. Any Books. I will review them. Just for fun really. Because I love them.
My son said to me the other day "you and Daddy are very greedy because you have too many books" I laughed a little and said, Greed doesnt work like that with books. You can want too much money, Thats greedy, Or eat too much, Greed, You can want things or buy things that you really dont need, Waste your money on invalubale things, But not with books, You can never have too many books. They are like little worlds you can enter when ever you feel like it. Another world where you can watch someone elses life and adventures unfold before your eyes. Littl fantasy worlds full of magic and good (or bad) whatever, Tiny places to visit when you need a pick me up. Watch as a vampire feeds or a wanderer finds his place in the world, Where treasures are found (and lost). Where people find "the one".
Where Monsters live and Witches dwell. Where people kiss and everything is wonderful. Where people are poor but couldnt care less because they have each other. My son listened and smiled and said "Mummy you are so clever, And I like books" He is five and my life. I wish for him to have the same veiws on books that me and his Dad do. He already loves his "bedtime story" and he doesnt mind what its about. His favourite book is called "The Robot and the Bluebird" by David Lucas.
Its all about a robot who's heart breaks and he goes to have it mended, The people cant fix it so he ends up on the tip with all the other broken robots, He tries to talk to them, He says "my heart got broke and they cant fix it" but no one listens on the tip so he stops talking and moving, He gets all rusted. Then one very cold wintery day a bluebird lands on him, She is very tired and cold and she makes a nest in the robot where his heart used to be, The robot can feel her flutter about in there and he feels like he has a heart beat again. The next morning the blue bird says that she is too tired to fly on to the warm country and would surely die if she flew any further in this cold weather. So the robot agrees to take her himself. He gets stiffly up and starts to walk slowly with the bluebird in his heart. Even though he is slow he feels like he is soaring because of the feeling of the little bird where his heart was. He walks over cold mountains through alsorts of weather. Just as he was about to stop working altogether he reaches where the bluebird needs to be. The end of the story is both sad and happy, The robot still stands in the same spot, He doesnt move anymore or speak, But every year birds come from all over the world to make nests in the space where his heart used to be. And though he cant move it makes him very happy.
